Emily & Morgan – THE WEDDING!!!

you may remember emily & morgan’s day before the wedding shoot that we shot at emily’s family’s summer cabin in sonoma, ca (dreamy!).  well, i thought that location was awesome, but, goodness, the wedding location was AMAZING (held at lancaster estate winery in healdsburg).  first off, emily and morgan love to have fun and seeing that most of their guests would be traveling from quite a distance to be there (many from london, wales, new york, los angeles) so they wanted to make the wedding into a week long event!  it was basically like a week of fun summer camp for grown ups followed by the party (wedding) of the year (or century).  :)  the whole thing was out of a dream… thousands of lovely flowers arranged in antique vases, teacups, sterling silver platters, crystal chandeliers hanging from above and vineyards for miles.  the whole night wrapped up with everyone dancing until the wee hours of the morning in the wine caves at the estate.  aside from all of the visual amazingness of the wedding, one of the most touching moments was when emily’s sister recited the following quote during the ceremony.  it has been one of my favorite quotes for a very long time and was even more touching because it fit emily and morgan so perfectly… they love each other madly.  congrats, you two.  xoxo

Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being in love which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.  – Captain Corelli’s Mandolin

Joy, Joy! This is such a beautiful wedding. The location is just beyond dreamy…and that opening image just blew my mind! Also, I’m such a nerd…when I was a little, I loved to look at images of flags from different countries and matched them up. So when I got to that shot of the flags, of course I had to play along!! :) Such a cool way to blend in two different cultures. Way to go.

Oops! I commented on the wrong post! I love this one, too of course but I’m sure the part about the boys and the girl with pearls was a bit confusing. :) Sorry about that!

It was spectacular abd Barbara worked so hard putting everything together. All of Summer Home Park is still talking about the influx of Londoners, New Yorkers and friends from Los Angeles. Virge (Emily’s grandmother)
