Becky Green -It is incredible how children know their destiny before their parents or anyone else knows how to articulate it or what they are perceiving. I remember well when Joy was a toddler how she was always the camera ham and ready for a photo opp even if I wasn’t ready to shoot. “Take my picture Mommy” which later turned into the preschooler walking around with a camera in her hands taking pictures of everything in her path. In those days we had cameras with film in it and I remember developing pictures thinking this can really be expensive. At the time of that revelation, I began holding onto the film hoping that she would forget about it so we didn’t have to get it developed. She loved taking pictures and as her age grew, so grew the quality of her pictures and the creativity of the setting and shot. As a young child, most of her pictures were of her animals and family members. During the days of grade school, her shots were mainly of friends and by high school days the shots turned into artistic silly or posed shots as well as friend shots. In college, Joy turned the corner to professionalism taking classes that taught her new things to explore and create and she began taking shots of nature, and children leading to pictures in other countries of impoverished and cultural photojournalism. I am so proud of her incredible creative spirit and so thankful for the gift she has been so richly blessed with. May she forever have the energy and passion she has today and the joy to carry her through. Love to my grown up little photographer. Mom
