]]> http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/a-very-merry-day-with-the-lawrence-family/feed/ 19 Three Little Bears… one year later! http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/three-little-bears-one-year-later/ http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/three-little-bears-one-year-later/#comments Thu, 23 Jun 2011 21:09:32 +0000 Joy http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/?p=4447 i had the honor of photographing jesse, marmaduke and huckleberry, who belong to the very brave bear grylls (man vs. wild!) and his incredibly sweet wife shara, last year on their annual visit to malibu and got to play on the beach with them again this year!  i love that they purely want the session is to just be the boys at play.  we walked out to the sand where they showed me their driftwood and seaweed village creations complete with little trees with kelp as branches, a fence made of sticks and a boat put together with sticks and seaweed.  they seem to have picked up a few of their daddy’s survival skills.  ;)  then they had to show me how fun it would be to smash it all to pieces with huge driftwood logs… these boys might be small but they are pretty darn strong!  they just giggled and wrestled and then grabbed their kite for a run on the beach as the sun set.  really, this is one of the sweetest families i have photographed, just full of kindness and joy so much so that it hardly felt like any work at all!

this luggage was what the hensons used as their “guest book” at their circus themed wedding, it was covered in vintage labels with the guests well wishes – such a great idea!  and it was just the perfect size for little jackson to curl right up in…

]]> http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/laura-allen-her-little-guy/feed/ 14 Minnie Driver and her son Henry! http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/minnie-driver-and-her-son-henry/ http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/minnie-driver-and-her-son-henry/#comments Thu, 02 Dec 2010 01:10:40 +0000 Joy http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/?p=3453 minnie & henry played in a forest, pretended to be butterflies, fed leaves to a little caterpillar, skipped some stones in a pond and all the while sang sweet songs together as they walked along.  and henry was quite the charmer.  i had brought along an antique video camera as a prop and the second he saw it he went wild, put it right up to his eye, held it perfect and started to “film” and direct his mama.  there were about ten minutes there under the oak trees where they were laughing together, filming one another, that just felt like pure magic.  it was a true honor to see the passionate love that minnie so obviously has for her son and also the sweet adoration henry has for his mama.  it all ended with henry giving us sprigs of lavender picked from a nearby bush to enjoy.  it was a perfect, beautiful day indeed!

]]> http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/joey-lawrence-family/feed/ 11 Kate & her tea party. http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/kate-her-tea-party/ http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/kate-her-tea-party/#comments Tue, 16 Nov 2010 21:07:13 +0000 Joy http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/?p=3327 kate’s mama had told me that there was nothing her daughter loved more than playing with her stuffed animals, pink, tea parties, her books and all things girly.  so they packed up their car with goodies, i packed up mine and we headed out to a meadow to give little miss kate the tea party of her (and her stuffed animals’) wildest dreams.   :)   kate may have a famous mama (brooke co hosts CNN’s Showbiz Tonight!) but she is the one that really stole the show!  she was prancing around in that meadow, picking wildflowers, poking her head in holes and singing to the birdies.  the sunshine was dreamy(!!!) and we finished the shoot with kate in her stroller laughing uncontrollably at her parents cuddling for me in front of the camera.  a very happy shoot indeed.   :)

]]> http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/kate-her-tea-party/feed/ 6 Nicole Sullivan & her very fun family! http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/nicole-sullivan-her-very-fun-family/ http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/nicole-sullivan-her-very-fun-family/#comments Mon, 18 Oct 2010 19:02:33 +0000 Joy http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/?p=3179 meet jason, nicole, dash & beckett!   i had the honor of photographing little beckett last year and we all had such a blast taking awesomely untraditional newborn photos.  i will say that it was the first time i ever photographed a family in the pool with a giant blow-up duck but it turned out to be one of the highlights of my year (definitely one of the perks of photographing a family of comedians)!  so when nicole and i were prepping for the shoot this time, i knew it was going to be a fun.  one of their favorite books is Caps for Sale so they brought that along with their collection of caps and a hearty sense of adventure.  we made mustaches out of pipe cleaners, played in a homemade tent out in the wilderness, climbed some trees, snacked, drew some family pictures and did a lot of laughing.  can’t wait for next year!

]]> http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/nicole-sullivan-her-very-fun-family/feed/ 8 three little BEARs… http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/three-little-bears/ http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/three-little-bears/#comments Thu, 20 May 2010 06:56:58 +0000 Joy http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/?p=2053 when i arrived at this family’s home, they were all out back (on the beach) building a boat out of bamboo and driftwood in the sand.  they were barefoot, giggling like crazy and it was such a beautiful moment as the sun was setting.  we had planned to start the shoot inside but once i caught a glimpse of their fort, we just stayed out there awhile.  the thing i love most about these images is that they we were just doing what they love to do… and they are allllll boy.  i have a little inkling that these three little bears may have gotten those boy instincts from their incredibly brave and manly papa, bear grylls (best known from his show, Man Vs. Wild).  this was a fun one…

how precious is this little guy???  he made his own camera out of legos so that we could shoot together!     :)

We had the pleasure of Joy photographing our 1 week old son, Dashiell Orson.  We are over the moon with the pictures.  Not only are the some of the most beautiful photographs we have ever seen, but Joy makes the photo session so easy.  She is a pro with babies…. she had calming techniques we’ve never seen!  She is like the baby whisperer.  A very talented and lovely young lady.  Thank you again! xoxo
