Michelle & Robert’s Wedding!

michelle & robert were married on labor day at the very beautiful, inn of the seventh ray, in topanga canyon. i had been dreaming of shooting them at that dreamy location for almost a year and as labor day approached, so did my labor day with clementine! :) there was lots of celebrating going on that very special monday as miss clementine had come into the world earlier than we had expected her but i was so very disappointed and sad i wasn’t able to be there myself at michelle and robert’s wedding as i was stuck in the hospital recovering. but… donny, aka super dad/super photographer man, full of all sorts of adrenaline after just seeing his daughter be born, was the lucky one able to document their wonderfully lovely day, along our two fabulous 2nd shooters, leeanne and sarah! that day, after the wedding when he got back to the hospital to see me, he was so happy and full of joy and as he scooped up clementine in his arms, he just couldn’t stop talking about what wonderfully kind people michelle and robert were and how it only made him more full of life after seeing them be married and how grateful he was to have this blessing of a job and then come home to his new baby. i have enjoyed pretending i was there at their wedding while editing their images and i love how there is such a feeling of splendor about them… sweetness, simplicity and happiness. thank you, michelle and robert for giving us the honor of being able to be part of that lovely day and your even greater kindness in understanding that our little clementine had a timeframe all her own. i promise you that i will be waiting anxiously for your future babies to be born so i can document all their adorableness as well (hint, hint). :)

Geneva & Matt’s Wedding!

he is a writer and she is an artist. they vowed to becomehusband and wife under a beautiful, large tree in the middle of an orchard, surrounded by the loveliest of friends and family and the golden leaves fell from the trees as the sun went down to the romantic tunes of billie holiday, frank sinatra and fred astaire. we had been particularly excited about this wedding ever since we shot their amelie themed engagement session and because of the pure and simple fact that they have incredible passion. they adore each other deeply. are incredibly childlike and yet wise about their love. and aside from the really important stuff, they have pretty unique and fantastic style and ideas. matt also brought along his vintage polaroid camera that he had used during their engagement shoot and some film for us to shoot the wedding with. it was so fun! a few of the photos we took on the day are posted below. we got a bit addicted and may have to add a polaroid to regular rotation in our gear bag. so, enjoy these photos, we really enjoyed being the ones chosen to take them. :)

Eric & Mari’s Wedding!

the beautiful wedding of a filmmaker and his bride. the day was full of bliss and comfort, eric and mari made it a big priority to be able to truly enjoy the event with their friends and family from start to finish with no strict schedule or rules for the day (loved this). the location was out of dreams, heritage square museum (swoon!) and the icing on the cake was that they gave donny and i two hours to be able to photograph them there (!!!) in the lovely late afternoon sun. i would be happy to photograph these two every day of the week. e & m, hope you love them.

Mary & Mike’s Wedding!

we all had butterflies at this wedding. you may remember mary and mike’s engagement session (see it here) with a very june carter and johnny cash vibe and a few butterflies flying about. well, they pulled that vintage music theme into the whole wedding with a lot of romance! everything had a touch of the butterflies (of course), they gave biscottis as parting gifts (their last name), had a custom hand painted canvas of the two of them as children singing to one another at the ceremony (one of the coolest and more precious things i’ve seen at a wedding), had a ton of unique crafted vintage inspired decor by rosemary olson (beautiful!), the spectacular silver lake chorus sang hip tunes throughout the ceremony and reception (it was a serious party), they rented one of a kind antique furniture, had a polaroid and photo booth, had the coolest dessert “table” all set up around an antique piano with a background of vintage sheet music and delish desserts done by my favorite shop – the cupcakery, and it all took place at calamigos ranch which is pretty much just a playground in itself. aside from the fact that we were in photographer heaven, i have known mary for years and years and in getting to know her journey with mike, well, it was all so wonderfully special. mike’s vows to mary were some of the most beautiful i have ever heard… at one point he took her hands and told her that he had loved her for her whole life – even when he didn’t know her, knowing her now and hearing and learning about her life, well, he just loved who she had been ever since she was a little girl and just adored her whole life. doesn’t that give you butterflies, too?!

Amelia & Josh’s wedding at the Utah Pickle Factory!

i first met them as a couple when they made the road trip out here from utah for THIS engagement session and i pretty much fell in love with them from the first minute. funny story, josh and i realized we had gone to elementary school together when we were talking at james and lynnette‘s amazingly fun wedding (you know josh and amelia have to be awesome if they are friends with lynnette and james), so needless to say i was giddy when he and his new fiance amelia called me a few months later and asked me to shoot their wedding! i was pretty much counting down the days til the big day after that… and the big day finally came. :) they were married at the salt lake temple and we met them out front just after for some photos there and then we headed around the corner to play in the lovely fall leaves. pretty much every tree along the street had a different color of leaves… it was spectacular! as we were playing a huge storm rolled in and we had to find a place with cover so we headed to to salt lake library and then up to the roof in the midst of a crazy hailstorm for some last portraits (big thanks to my wonderful 2nd shooter, jenny, for holding my umbrella all that time, i know your arms were sore the next day)! from there we headed to the reception site at the utah pickle factory which was basically an old brick warehouse with old wooden plank floors that they transformed into the most quirky, fun awesome party spot! clear christmas lights hung from all the rafters, a taco stand made of metal and wood they made themselves, jones soda as their signature drink (their last name is jones!), an ice cream stand, antique books stacked with homemade cakes on top, chalkboard signs, popcorn for the kids, a “gallery” of amelia’s art painted of different fun moments from their relationship and the coolest photo booth ever. everything was relaxed, fun, unique, adorable and wonderfully crafty. it even snowed at the end. it was pretty much like a dream.

i must share something amelia wrote about her and josh that i think shows how dang cute they are… “I have brown hair. He is blonde. I sew. He shoots guns. I am dramatic. He is logical. I have terrible eyes. His are perfect. I didn’t make my bed. He taught me to. Wolverine is my favorite. He can’t pick one. I shop. He is a financial advisor. I don’t work out much. He is a health freak. I cook. He cleans. I am from Utah. He is from California. We are in LOVE.” (i do have to add that amelia has AMAZING eyes and that she is also quite humble).

Angela & Mike’s Wedding!

angela and mike were married in nipomo, ca at the amazing dana powers house. every detail was perfectly rustic, fall inspired and romantic. orange leaves, old rusty tractors, pumpkins, homemade wine, wreaths made of wheat, vintage lace, sunflowers, sweet potato pies, butternut squash soup, apple butter, mason jar chandeliers, a warm gusty wind and a very passionate couple. the whole day could be summed up as just all warm and fuzzy in every way!

this wedding was a wonderfully fun mix of elegance and playfulness. the theme was loosely based on betty & jon’s love of board games so after the ceremony we all sat down in front of this amazing fallen tree as the sun was setting and played a while!

a very lovely wedding for two lovebirds! you may remember kylee & paul from this princess & the pea themed engagement shoot we created for them and their two little girls, gracie & paisley a few months ago. well, their wedding was a beautiful expression of that same vintage simplicity and every detail in their wedding was so perfectly them… homemade, warm, hippie chic, beautiful, eclectic and fun! it really was as though a caravan of flower children had come to town! unfortunately, i wasn’t able to be there on the big day, so, donny (the other half of wildflowers photography and my handsome hubby) had the honor of capturing their beautiful day. it was almost torture seeing the images and not being there… i may have to talk the happy couple into putting their wedding clothes back on again for me some time (check out her handmade dress and that embroidered sweater! lovely). xoxo

Whitney & Mark got hitched at the pumpkin patch!

from the first moment mark saw whitney on their wedding day, he could barely speak. he was breathless just at the sight of her. i caught him just staring at her many times over the course of the day and wiping tears from his eyes, just simply overwhelmed that he was marrying her. and she couldn’t stop grinning.

i met mark and whitney last year and i fell in love with them over sugar cookies. they held hands and giggled and shared how they wanted their wedding to be fun, vintage and just to feel like home. i was so honored to have been picked to document their big day and their vintage engagement session (see it here) only made me more excited for the wedding! they were married in the walnut grove at tierra rejada ranch in moorpark on a brisk fall day. the whole wedding party was so wonderful to hike out in the muddy pumpkin patch and into the corn field and i am so happy we went for it! i love a bride who doesn’t mind digging her heels into the mud a bit. ;) it was a really beautiful rustic wedding with great details, homestyle bbq, a swoon-worthy dessert bar, a dreamy farm backdrop and a very GIDDY couple that took center stage and laughed and danced the night away like school children. what an honor it was to witness such a sweet love…
