Our Home!!!

i am happy to introduce you to our home!!!    :) :) :)

this last year has been a whirlwind for us.  in between me being on bed rest during my pregnancy with brandon, then welcoming and getting used to life with two children, buying our first home, knocking down walls and putting the house back together (with a crazy toddler running around), keeping all the balls in the air with both of our businesses, grieving several deaths, experiencing the most terrible migraines and being diagnosed with more than several illnesses, thinking we were NEVER going to make it back to the top of the hill we started on AND trying to remember to enjoy the daily beauty of life… well, it has been crazy.  and as happy as i am to show you all the fun things we have done to our house, i have a new insight into how meaningless it all is.  i loved leaving behind apartment living and having the house but i realized in the midst of the chaos how it can be gone in an instant and how dang fast my children are changing.  i think i cry on a daily basis thinking of how fast they are going to grow OUT of this house and be big and not need me anymore.  i love them so.  and i love my husband.  he is loyal and honest and handy (and very very handsome).  i am blessed.

thank you, thank you, thank you to every person that brought us a meal, painted a wall, helped clean the grossness that filled this house a year ago, laughed with us, cried with us and hugged us tightly throughout it all.  so, without further adieu, here is the prouty HOME (except for brandon’s room and the new STUDIO!!! – check back next week for those)!  i guess we would call our style “vintage modern”.  it is a mix of flea market & thrift store finds, anthopologie and handmade…. with a bunch of gallery wrapped canvases of our favorite family photos on the walls.  hope you like it!

first… our bedroom (the canvas hanging over our bed is a photo from our honeymoon (i love donny’s flip flop tan) and the words are taken from the vows we wrote to each other at our wedding):

this is our newest gallery wrapped canvas that we looooove of us in a cornfield taken by our wonderful friend jen rau.  it is sized 40″ x 65″ and takes up a whole wall all by itself!

just a few final details… the last photo below on the right is a canvas covered with love letters my grandparents wrote to each other during the war.  they are BEAUTIFUL and honest and sooooo romantic.  they had hundreds of letters but i just scanned my favorites, had them printed onto canvas and then decoupaged them onto this 30″ x 30″ wrapped canvas i bought at aaron brothers.  it is my most favorite thing in our house.
