ready for a serious amount of fun? to sum it all up… a tiny little log cabin up in big bear mountain in the snowy winter, millions (and i mean millions) of loose feathers and one overfilled (and then ripped open) feather bed, footie jammies, a big abandoned barn, lots of laughter and one amazing family, the brookes, (they are wedding photographers themselves so it was such a huge honor to photograph them) who are our new sweet friends that we are so very happy to now live life alongside! we had anticipated it for half a year, counted it down to the hours, collected feathers for weeks and then laughed straight through from start to finish. it was madness and i am pretty sure that we are all still finding feathers in the most interesting of places, lol. now prepare yourself for a lot of images, i just couldn’t bear to narrow them down, and these are just my favorites. ;)

this was a fun, fun shoot for me! not only did i get to photograph this family against the beautiful background of an iowa winter, but their home had fantastic character all on it’s own. the mama, kirsten, is a sewing and crafting genius and had adorned every inch of their house with quirky, artistic touches that i just couldn’t get enough of! i knew as soon as i saw the larger than life rooster made of recycled tin on their front step that they were my kinda family. we ended it all with a big bubble bath to warm up after playing in the snow… it was the cherry on top of a very sweet shoot!

we are in iowa… enjoying family, life and trying hard to just be in the moment. it is blissful. there will surely be a long blog post when we get back of all the fun things we have done, but i had to post this one of my little brandon just for now. it has been verrry cold here (negative 6 today!) so i barely could have him outside for 5 minutes, but i got this one shot that was a keeper. he is on his new (old) rocking horse… one of many fantastic finds that i will be shipping back home… next time i will need to rent a uhaul! i am so thankful for my sweet babies. i hope everyone else has begun 2010 with as much joy as we have. happy new year!!!
